Blend Utility

Use the Blend utility to calculate and preview the result of applying two colors together. You can apply different calculations to achieve different results. The resulting color preview and breakdowns are displayed in the bottom right corner of the main window.

Mode

The utility is broken down into three different modes: RGB, CMYK and Spot. The RGB and CMYK modes allow colors to be entered using sliders and text fields (as shown above). Colors are calculated in their native color spaces. The Spot mode allows you to select spot colors from various color libraries. These previews and calculations are based on the RGB values as defined by the selected color library.

Please note that using the color well to select a custom color while in Spot mode allows you to bypass the library. This may be helpful for times you wish to preview a spot color calculated with a color outside of the selected library.

Calculation

When calculating the "Mix" of colors, the color mixer slider is enabled. The default is set to mix the colors 50-50 (i.e. 1-part Color 1, 1-part Color 2). Moving this slider adjusts these proportions and only applies to the "Mix" setting. You can also use "Multiply" and "Screen" as calculations to achieve different results.
