Bluetooth Radio On and Off
Note: The ability to switch off the Bluetooth radio from the system tray menu is not available on all systems.
To switch the Bluetooth radio module on and off from system tray menu on Windows 7, follow these steps:
- To switch the Bluetooth radio on, right-click on the Bluetooth tray icon and select Turn Adapter On.
- To switch the Bluetooth radio off, right-click on the Bluetooth tray icon and select Turn Adapter Off, or open the Bluetooth Settings window and select the Turn off the Bluetooth adapter check box in the Options tab.
To switch the Bluetooth radio module on and off from Wireless Settings on Windows 8, follow these steps:
- Access PC Settings by moving the mouse cursor to the bottom-right corner to slide out the menu set, click Settings, and click Change PC settings.
- Click the Wireless node.
- Click on the Bluetooth slider to cycle Bluetooth On and Off.
Use the above steps to turn the Bluetooth radio on and off. It is strongly recommended not do it by disabling and enabling the Bluetooth device driver(s) in the Device Manager.
If the computer has a hardware radio switch, and the radio is first turned off using the software, but then the computer’s hardware radio switch is used to turn the radio off and on, then the adapter will not turn on until it is turned on again via the software. Please avoid using the software switch and the hardware switch at the same time. For further details on how to use the hardware switch please see the computer’s User Manual.
Folder Sharing Settings
To enable or disable file sharing:
- Right click on the Bluetooth tray icon and select Open Settings.
- At the Bluetooth Settings window select the Shared Folder tab, and then do one of the following:
- To enable file sharing, select the Allow remote devices to browse shared folder check box, click Browse to select the local folder to share with the Bluetooth devices, and then click OK. To limit the remote device access to read only, unselect the Allow remote devices to change content of shared folder check box.
- To disable file sharing, unselect the Allow remote devices to browse shared folder check box.
Audio Settings
Note: This section is not applicable if you are using the Windows 8 operating system.
To manage Bluetooth audio settings:
- Right click on the Bluetooth tray icon and select Open Settings.
- At the Bluetooth Settings window select the Audio tab, and then do one or more of the following:
- To allow a Bluetooth audio connection with only devices that support SCMS-T Digital Rights Management (DRM) content protection, select the Connect to an audio device only if it supports SCMS-T content protection check box.
- To enable automatic Skype call switching while listening to music, select the Enable Skype Switching option, and select the name of the previously connected Bluetooth audio headset from the drop-down menu. For more details see Receiving Voice over IP (VoIP) Calls While Listening to Music. This option is not available if the Skype software is not installed on the computer.
High Speed Settings
To manage high speed settings:
- Right click on the Bluetooth tray icon and select Open Settings.
- At the Bluetooth Settings window select the High Speed tab, and then do one of the following:
- To show notifications when the Bluetooth connection switches to and from Bluetooth High Speed mode, select the Notify me about high speed switching.
- To hide notifications when the Bluetooth connection switches to and from Bluetooth High Speed mode, unselect the Notify me about high speed switching.
