iEye Captain Icon    Infrared: Getting started

Find out what you need to have in order to make infrared control work:

The components you will need:

• Analog EyeTV unit (such as the EyeTV 200 or 250), with A/V inputs.
• Digital cable or satellite set-top box, with infrared remote control.
• Cables to connect the set-top box to your EyeTV. If you have it, S-Video (4-pin) gives the highest quality, followed by Composite (yellow), and the lowest quality being the Coaxial (screw-on cable style hookup). If you are using S-Video or Composite, you will need to connect the red & white audio inputs/outputs as well.
• A ZephIR or IRTrans infrared device.
• A Mac that is connected to the EyeTV, and is within USB range (about 25 feet) of the set-top box. If you wish to connect over a longer distance, you can use an active USB extension cable, or with the IRTrans you can purchase external transmitters on longer cables, or an Ethernet IRTrans to connect over a network.
