Working with the Canvas
Putting Items on the Canvas
The Canvas is a two-dimensional workspace for image manipulation, dynamically sized to enclose all the images currently placed on it New images added to the Canvas are cascaded from the lower left corner. When images are dragged onto the Canvas, they cascade from the drop point.
To move an item from the Tray onto the Canvas use one of the following methods:
- Select the the desired images. Click the Move Tray Items to Canvas button on the Tray Control or select the Canvas > Move Tray Items to Canvas option on the menubar.
- Drag the selected images from the Tray onto the Canvas .
- Drag items from the Finder onto the Canvas. If the item is not already in the Tray, LightTable will automatically add it to both the Tray and the Canvas.
- Double-click on an item in the Tray and it will be placed on the canvas.
Note: Images from the Tray may be placed on the Canvas multiple times. Use the Edit > Select Similar menu option to select all the Canvas items that match a specific Tray item.

Along with the scroll bars on the bottom and right side of the canvas, users may navigate the Canvas area using both menus and the keyboard.
- The View menu contains items for scrolling to the extreme boundaries (e.ge, left, right, top or bottom edges), the Canvas center and the lower left corner of the Canvas (home). These same menu options are available on the canvas context menu that appears when no items are selected.
- Four keyboard options are available: pressing command-left-arrow, command-right-arrow, command-up-arrow, or command-down-arrow will scroll the Canvas to the boundary extreme matching the arrow key direction.
