Simple Cataloger Help - Folder Options Tab

Folder Options Tab

The Folder Options Tab is where the Start Location and the Save Locations are chosen and displayed.

Cataloger Start Location

This is the folder where the cataloger will start. From here, the cataloger will view and record all files and go into any new folders it finds. When a folder has been selected, the folder's full path is displayed. There are four ways to select the folder you wish to catalog:

  1. In the menu bar go to "File" > "Select Folder..." (Command/Control + O). A folder selection dialog box will appear.
  2. Click the "Start Location" button in the tool bar. A folder selection dialog box will appear.
  3. Click the "Select..." button in the "Cataloger Start Location" area. A folder selection dialog box will appear.
  4. Drag and drop the folder to be cataloged into the "Cataloger Start Location" area.
In all four methods, if the there is already a save location and file selected, the file name will automatically update to the new start folder name.

Catalog Save Location

This is the folder where the catalog file will be saved. The catalog file is a simple, easy to read, tab-delimited text file. There are four ways to select the name of the file and select it's save location:

  1. In the menu bar go to "File" > "Save Cataloger..." (Command/Control + S). A file save dialog box will appear.
  2. Click the "Save Location" button in the tool bar. A file save dialog box will appear.
  3. Click the "Select..." button in the "Cataloger Save Location" area. A file save dialog box will appear.
  4. Drag and drop the folder to be cataloged into the "Cataloger Save Location" area.
In all four methods, if the there is already a save location and file selected, the file path will automatically update to the new folder and maintain the current start folder name.

The Cataloger will not run until both locations have been selected.
